The First Insurance Company (FIC) Limited on August 29, presented a cheque for GH\u00a240,000 to the family of a deceased client at Santa Marie in Accra. <\/h3>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \r\n\r\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ms Patience Arthur, 49, passed on after 11 months of signing on to the company\u2019s life insurance policy.<\/p>

Presenting the cheque to the family, a Senior Executive Officer, Mr Benjamin Bortketey Annang, said life insurance policy was not only important to the client\u2019s life but that of his or her family as well.<\/p>

According to him, nobody had control over his or life and that life insurance policies were there to reduce the financial burdens \u201cthat are associated with deaths\u201d, particularly to the bereaved families.<\/p>

Claims payment<\/strong><\/p>

He said many people had erroneous perceptions that insurance companies did not pay their claims or they delayed in settling claims.<\/p>

Mr Annang noted that First Insurance Company was one of the companies that did not waste time in paying claims to policy beneficiaries.<\/p>

He said earlier this year, the company presented a cheque for GH\u00a2150,272 to the family of a deceased client in Kumasi whom he described as a good ambassador and a friend of the company, pointing out that although the client was dead, the relationship between the company and the family would continue.<\/p>

Mr Annang, therefore, urged the family of their deceased client to continue to do business with the company and also use their claim judiciary to take care of the children left behind by their client.<\/p>

He said their client signed on to their policy to secure a better future for her children.<\/p>

Relationship<\/strong><\/p>

He consoled the family on their loss and assured them that the company would not desert them during their bereavement.<\/p>

\u201cWe want to assure you that we are grieving with you,\u201d Mr Annang said, noting that the company developed life-long relationship with their clients.<\/p>

Dr Richard Arthur, the brother of the deceased, who received the cheque on behalf of the family, expressed his gratitude to the company for the timeliness with which it pays claims.<\/p>

According to him, the family was not expecting the company to pay the claims as early as they did.<\/p>

He, therefore, pledged to be an advocate for their good deeds.<\/p>

\u201cFrom what I have witnessed today, it\u2019s going to be an advertising for you,\u201d he assured the company.<\/p>

Education<\/strong><\/p>

The Executive Head of Programmes, Mrs Elsy Adadey, expressed concern over the low penetration rate of life insurance in the country in spite of the several benefits associated with the policy.<\/p>

She also expressed worry over the misinformation some insurance agents presented to their prospective clients during policy signing.<\/p>

According to her, many agents of insurance companies did not explain insurance policies well to their prospective clients, hence resulting in situations that break trust between insurance companies and their clients.<\/p>

Quality service<\/strong><\/p>

\u201cWe are passionate about providing quality services that create stakeholder confidence and trust,\u201d Mrs Adadey said, adding that \u201cwe explore innovative ways to deliver superior client experience.\u201d<\/p>

She said the company\u2019s mission was to help middle income families become adequately protected and financially independent when death claimed their breadwinner.<\/p>
